PVC Panelling Mounting Instructions
x
Please follow carefully the manufacturers mounting instructions for a perfect result.
• DECOS panels are universally applicable. It can be installed in every room of your home. But it is especially conceived for fitting
into ‘wet’ environments (bathrooms, kitchens,…)
• DECOS panels are virtually maintenance free. They are easily
cleaned with normal domestic cleansing products (do not use
abrasive or solvent containing products).
• PVC panels can be fixed directly to existing, sound tile surfaces using a high tack adhesive such as Gripfill or No Nails.
FITTING INSTRUCTIONS: DECOS panels are easily fixed to almost every surface. Depending the type of wall or ceiling you
can choose different types of fitting.
When used in a bathroom, kitchen or any other room environment, the joint between between adjacent panel can be made dry, but in a situation where running water will play on the panels (eg. a shower cublicle or wet room) it is recommended that a bead of bathroom grade fungicidal silicone is run down the back leg of each panel prior to the fitting of the next adjacent panel. There will still be no visible silicone but this is the belt and braces approach to "doubly" ensure no potential for leakage at the joints.
Nailing: apply nails evenly and level in the panel lip. Be careful
not to hit the panel with the hammer. This method only applieswhen fixing the cladding to a wooden surface or battening.
x
Stapling: use stainless staples when fixing to plaster. This
method is most recommended when fixing to wooden battening.
Make sure the battening is flat and level, packing out where necessary on uneven walls so that when applied the cladding
does not develop curvature following wall contours.
Gluing:
only works when applied to an even, dry wall. The wall
must be free of any greasy substances and dust. Only use
neoprene glue. Ask your distributor for advice.
• In case of damp and uneven walls we recommend the use of
treated timbers for battening. Ensure that you leave sufficient
ventilation behind the cladding by providing air gap between
the battening. Position battens with 40 to 60 centimetre intervals
• Use end profiles to finish off the cladding. (see drawings)
• Using battens allows you to install cables for switches and plugs
for power supply, phones,…
• Do not apply the product around heat radiating objects. (i.e.
radiators, hot water drainage) Check the temperature around
these objects. It must not exceed over 60° centigrade.
• DECOS panels are UV resistant.
